Kirsten worked thirty two years in education, as a teacher, a professional developer, and principal. She taught many drawing and watercolor workshops to students and adults.
In 2018, I was beginning to think about the next chapters for myself. My love of art, particularly watercolor painting, had never waned. With my children grown and out of the house, I knew it was time to do new things that brought me joy. I enrolled in an art class with Leslie Wilson and loved it. I found myself driving to class, gear in tow, after my school day. I painted every week with a group of like-minded people. Leslie encouraged me to enter shows. I did. I haven't looked back. I saw my teachers and students through the COVID-19 pandemic. With a team of brilliant colleagues, we brought them back to the physical building after almost a year of reinventing education for a home virtual model. Feeling ready for a change, I retired in 2021. My second life as an artist began.
I continue to paint and refine my work. I am lucky to be involved in several painting groups and take an occasional workshop in addition to the weekly sessions with Leslie Wilson and friends I have made along the way.
My paintings have been shown in California Watercolor Association shows and other venues.
